Mike Pence: The VP Built to Unite

According to Merriam Webster, unity is defined as, “the state of being in full agreement.” Unity and Unifying has been a word we have heard a lot from the major news networks lately as conservatives struggle to get behind the nominee Donald J. Trump. Voters, politicians, and even our Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan, have struggled to put their full support behind Trump.

Whether these people have the right to be on the fence is not what I am trying to examine. I am here to explain that Mike Pence is the unifier the GOP has been looking for. Pence is a strong pro-life advocate, a backer of traditional marriage, and has an A rating from the NRA. At the RNC this past week in Cleveland Pence assured the Republican base that he is, “A Christian, a conservative, and a republican, in that order.” Pence is a true Reagan conservative and has the voting record to prove it. He has successfully balanced the state of Indiana’s budget and has produced countless jobs while seeing exponential economic growth.

This should excite conservatives right? It should make those Never Trumpers realize their ignorance and vote for the Republican ticket in the fall right? Well for right now, no. The Never Trump movement and those that feel they cannot “morally” vote for Trump will stick by their convictions for now but will soon realize the true conservative that Pence is. Pence is the guy that most republicans imagined would be at the top of the ticket and those that are steadfast in not checking the Trump box in November believe they should not settle. But here is what I believe they will soon realize. They will recognize that Pence, a Reagan conservative will have enough influence and fervor to see his points listened to and recognized by Trump. The on-the-fence conservatives will also realize that not voting at all or a vote for any kind of third party candidate is one vote gained for the corrupt Hillary Clinton. So, I believe that Pence’s strong record and ideologies will persuade conservatives to jump back on their partisan bandwagon and bring a victory home for the GOP in November. If not, then prepare for 3-4 progressive Justices to be nominated and for their influence and votes to affect generations to come. I may not be right about Mike Pence but I hope and pray for our great country that he is the uniter we have been looking for. So yes, I believe the fate of our nation relies largely on a Christian and conservative from the small town Columbus, Indiana.
